I read a story…

About “The Two Wolves”, that I would like to share:

One evening, an Old Cherokee told his grandson about the battle that goes on inside all people. He said, “Grandson, the battle is between the two “wolves” inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf wins”.

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed”.

My Metabolism has Gone Down…

Is that your excuse??

I hear it everyday…, “My metabolism has gone down, I can’t eat like I
used to, I don’t have time to exercise like I used to….” Great excuses,
and that’s what they are.

Yes, your metabolism does go down with age but not as much as you would
like to think.  The big reason your metabolism goes down is because your
ACTIVITY level goes down.

Think back, how active are you now compared to when you were young?? Do
you still have recess everyday and play after work like you did after
school?? Do you go out on the weekends and come in when it’s dark or
when your Mom  makes you come in??

When was the last time you ran just to see how fast you could go?  And
when was the last time your hands and feet looked like prunes from
swimming for 8 hours non stop??

If all these activities are way in the past, that’s the big reason your
metabolism has gone down, not your age.

It’s probably been quite a long time since you let it rip like when you
were younger. The scenario now is probably sit at work all day, and then
go home and sit some more.

So if you would like to eat more and look and feel better, maybe get
outside more often and play a little more…and use the excuses a little
less.

Who would you like to show…

Your Angry side to?

When the top flies off from all the steam and your blood is boiling, is there someone special you would like to show it to or will anyone do the trick?

Some of us like to show it to our families or best friends…or maybe a co-worker?

We may be showing our Angry side to many different people of our choice, but last I checked, no one likes to see it.

Time Erases Emotion?

Sure does, and some things just need a little more time to balance out.

What we are talking about here is the Emotion of Temper.

Remember the last time you had a touch of road rage  and wanted to pull the person out of the car and do a couple round house kicks to the throat? And when you got home everyone else caught your fury as you thought of more deviant ways you could have taught them a lesson?

Then you got up the next morning and thought, “What was I thinking”? And you are thankful that you are there and not in jail?

So next time – ease up and remember that “Time Erases Emotion”.

PS. This works with friends and family too:)

Finding Our Passion…

Can be difficult. I’ve heard it a thousand times: “Find your passion and your life will be what you want it to be”. Yeah, but how.

I have found that our passion can be found through the things we don’t want to do…through experience, and the process of elimination.

So start by finding out the things you don’t like to do, and the things you like to do, will bubble to the top.

Then link your passion with helping to make the world a better place and “bingo”, you are set!

Look at the “Whole Picture”

Many times we tend to focus on the situation or person without regard to
the whole picture.

I even catch myself at times…as well as people I coach. One of the
main topics I come in contact with are challenges with family members.

For instance, the parents get all lathered up because their teenager is
acting up, doing this and that…but looking at the whole picture
reveals that they are just a teenager, doing what teenagers do.

Not meaning that you need to ignore, allow or put up with actions that
are not to be tolerated, it’s just the way teenagers act. If you really
think back, you probably weren’t a gem in your teenage years either.

So looking at the whole picture may help you to see things as they
really are and give you the patience to act or respond in a different
manner.
