Fiber is the most commonly accepted word relating to a dietary essential.
And back when I grew up, it was… “eat your roughage” – accompanied by a swift smack to the back of the head.
I either case, parents are right…eat your fiber …or roughage for us that grew up “back in the day”.
It helps in elimination – not allowing your sewer system to become a cesspool.
Think of it this way – fiber is mostly cellulose which is indigestible to humans and aids in elimination by way of peristalsis – helping to push waste through and cleanse your body on it’s way out.
For a good rule of thumb, fiber is mostly found in whole grains, fruits and veggies.
